Reclaiming Your Survival Energy

Our survival energy connects us to our fundamental ability to stay alive. It encompasses everything that sustains our existence: health, vitality, financial stability, sexuality, family, food, physical presence, and the fulfillment of basic needs.
This energy lives at the body level of our experience. Without it, we cannot survive.
Most of the time, it remains quiet in the background. It activates only when needed: when we must defend ourselves against illness or threat, or when a vital need demands attention.
When awakened, this energy is immensely powerful. To maintain balance in our health and well-being, we must not resist it. We need to allow it, welcome it, and integrate it fully.
Trauma and the Survival Response
Trauma occurs when this survival energy is activated but cannot complete its natural cycle. Something interrupts the flow, leaving the energy trapped in our system.
Think of survival energy as a flow moving in two directions.
There's an upward surge that mobilizes us to act and protect ourselves. Then there's a downward current that allows us to digest the experience, integrate what happened, and learn how to care for ourselves better.
The Cultural Suppression of Survival Energy
In so-called modern culture, we've been conditioned to see certain aspects of our humanity as shameful or inappropriate. Being needy, demanding, scared, angry, or sexual, these natural responses have been labeled as wrong, uncivilized, or something to suppress.
Striving to be pure, controlled, and "spiritual," we've learned to bury the earthy, animal parts of ourselves. We've literally cut ourselves off from our own survival energy, trapping it inside our bodies.
This creates a devastating problem: when traumatic events occur, our ability to survive becomes compromised by our conditioning. Instead of allowing survival energy to flow through us naturally - to activate, move us to action, then integrate - we expend enormous effort (consciously or unconsciously) cutting off the flow at various points.
The Cost of Disconnection
When we sever this vital flow, the consequences show up throughout our lives. Chronic immune system problems. Loss of desire and libido. Insomnia and restless sleep. Getting trapped in emotions for months or years. Depression. Financial struggles. Denial of what's real.
These aren't separate issues. They're all symptoms of the same root problem: blocked survival energy.
The Path to Wholeness
I guide clients to welcome their survival energy rather than fight it. By allowing it to flow freely, they discover something profound: they can feel in their bodies that they have survived. That they are surviving. That they can continue to survive.
The more we accept our survival energy, the more our capacity to hold all of life expands. We become containers for the full spectrum of human experience, knowing deep in our bones that we have everything we need within us to learn from and move through every season of existence.
What Changes When You Reconnect
The moment you stop resisting this energy and begin reconnecting with it, you reclaim:
Power. Groundedness. Persistence. Calmness. Health. Pleasure. Satisfaction.
These aren't things you have to strive for or achieve. They're what naturally emerges when your survival energy flows freely again.
